Hello! My name is Jon and I'm possible your new best friend/favorite math tutor! I've got over four years (and thousands, if not tens of thousands of hours) of experience as a professional tutor! I've worked for private businesses in and around Orange County as well as for the California Community College system. I have been lucky enough to work with students of all ages (anything from 2nd grade children to adults returning to college) and have had the pleasure of seeing these students to their academic goals! As a natural side-effect of working with such a wide range of students I've also had the opportunity to cover a huge range of mathematics-related material: ranging from elementary school Common Core to some of the bizarre abstract mathematics in college! However, I must say that I find the more complicated maths to be the most satisfying when helping students learn!
I tutor for one simple reason: I love seeing people "get it". I love being able to help a student take a really strange or foreign concept, break it down into its most basic components, and explain things from the ground up in a way that works for them. I also love the unique challenges that come with working with every new student. No two people are the same and there is no "one-size-fits-all" tutoring approach. I enjoy learning how to explain topics (both simple and complicated) to people in new and, hopefully entertaining, ways (I've gone so far as to refer to something as a "baby math pancake" just to make a point)!
When I'm not solving math problems for fun (yea, I'm "that guy") I'm probably either at the gym chasing a healthy lifestyle or on my computer getting lost on YouTube or spending far too much time playing video games! Bonus fact: I've got some pretty sweet yo-yo skills!
